After Ted Lieu (D-CA) condemned White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for making a comment that was misrepresented by the Hill, Sanders could have taken the high road and brushed it off. However, being who she is, she naturally made it worse for herself.
The Hill wrote that “Huckabee Sanders: GOP ‘begged’ Dems to work on tax reform.” The Hill’s blooper has since been deleted.
In the interview with Fox & Friends, Sanders said that Trump would be willing to work with Democrats and “that’s something that Democrats shouldn’t need to be begged to be a part of. They should’ve been begging and banging down the door of the building behind me to be a part of this process and to be a part of helping more Americans be more successful.”
The Hill corrected their earlier mistake and tweeted: “Huckabee Sanders: Dems should have been ‘begging’ to participate in tax reform.”
Before the correction was made, Lieu was quick on the draw and retweeted it, with the comment, “Dear @PressSec: You don’t serve in Congress. I do. And I can say with absolute certainty that you are lying.”
